Bihar and Arghya – Where Culture Meets Devotion
Bihar is not just a place on the map - it is an emotion, a living story that flows through rivers, traditions, and people. It is the land where simplicity and resilience walk hand in hand, where festivals are not just rituals but ways of binding communities together.
Among these, Chhath Puja stands out as Bihar’s most sacred and unique festival. A festival of the Sun, it is celebrated with devotion, discipline, and purity - without any idol worship, without grandeur, only faith and nature. At its heart lies the offering of Arghya - the simple yet powerful act of folding hands, offering water and fruits to the setting and rising Sun, thanking him for the gift of life.
Why Arghya Matters to Us
For centuries, Chhath has been Bihar’s way of showing that true worship lies in gratitude and discipline. The sight of thousands of devotees standing waist-deep in rivers and ponds, with baskets of Thekua and fruits, singing folk songs in chorus, is something words can barely capture.
For us, Arghya is more than a ritual. It is a reminder of who we are and where we come from. It is Bihar’s message to the world - that spirituality does not need excess, that culture can be preserved in its purest, most minimal form.
Arghya as Our Initiative
When we chose the name Arghya for our initiative, it was not accidental. It was a conscious act of aligning with the values Bihar has taught us: gratitude, authenticity, and togetherness.
Bihar – Our Root, Our Pride
Too often, Bihar is spoken of only in terms of its struggles. But Arghya is our way of shifting that narrative - by showing the richness of our culture, the strength of our people, and the timeless beauty of our traditions.
Bihar has always been a giver: of knowledge, with Nalanda and Vikramshila; of leaders, poets, and thinkers; of festivals like Chhath that bind families and communities across the globe. And through Arghya, we wish to keep this cycle of giving alive.
Arghya is Bihar’s offering to the world. And we are proud to carry it forward.
