The story of Makhana begins in the ponds & wetlands of Mithila and Darbhanga, where farmers have been cultivating it for centuries. Harvesting makhana is not easy - it requires skill, patience, & deep knowledge of water bodies. Seeds are collected from the lotus plant, dried, roasted, & popped to form the crunchy, nutritious snack we know today.

What started as a local delicacy has now become a global superfood, exported to countries far beyond Bihar.
